The seal is the Connecticut state seal and the trees are the Constitution Oaks. Before the American Revolution, when the British wanted our constitution back, it was hidden in a giant oak tree for safe keeping. No constitution, no way for the British to remove our statehood. (that's the readers digest version of the story)
This place is unreal Motts! No one would ever imagine the severe change in decor, in this place. From grand to gross! These metal mesh doors, Oh my! Thanks Motts !
Felshy, good luck with that. The security is ... well, a bit over the top. I think that they fear law suits from injury if someone goes in. Kids were arrested about a year ago for going in and grabbing some dishes.
Danny - this is Norwich, CT, USA - not England. I drive by this hospital often and it is unnerving ... the buildings look as tortured from the outside as these show them to be.
If buildings can have so much evil happen in them that they become evil - these are the ones. There is so much beauty on the site - lovely old buildings, once stunning, I am sure - but now they just seem to sit, suffering for all the suffering that they housed.
Utopia is out, by the way. The City of Norwich is still battling whether to buy their parcel from the state. Cleanup and conversion costs are seeming to come in at $15M, according to yesterday's paper.
Norwich has a past...it must have been one of the top places for the mentally ill in England.
The big one at old palace rd had padded cells and one of the scaryist places on the earth.
myself i'm glad they have shut down...
where this evil has eminated.
this looks like the hell hole they kept my sister in at the age of 15 and was abused on a regular basis...by the people who should have been caring for her.
