The knobs at the bottom and on the left are to adjust the carbon rod rotation speed and rate of 'Feed'. It actually took patience and real skill to operate these as they required constant fine tuning 'On the fly'. If the rods touched for anything other than initial start-up for more than a few seconds, it would burn the 'Cone' which held the rods and focused the light onto the mirrors. Really the most expensive part of the system which could essentially "Total" it. Very cool in any perspective. :-)

Although the colors are awesome, these lamps are remeniscent of the lamps at the Dentists office. "Is it safe?" :-D
