just the u joints on the drive shafts run 20 to 50 bucks each. see the little 2 bolt plate on the ends? I had to make one as I could not buy one. and here there are 100s of them. wow , I would have paid 50 bucks for one of those little plates.
figure that if they run and the transmission is in workable condition.... around 2000.00 to 3000.00 each. if they are low mile test motors maybe double that.
omg, I am a collector of old trucks. wow. I hate to guess what that room is worth, and to think that it is going to the land fill or recycle makes me sick.

These are not car engines, likely class 7 or even small class 8 truck engines. International Harvester was at this plant and they could have a remanufacturing center still here or they just abandoned them. Since they don't meet BIN II they're worthless today.

You are correct SLS, the balconies were used to move parts that were both produced at the plant and came in from suppliers. Compact multifloor assembly plants, like this, are highly inefficient this balcony type system was likely an effort to make the system more efficient. Clearly that did not work.
Occam's razor:
Every plant had a doctor and nurse on duty during operations. This stretcher was likely used to carry injured workers. It shouldn't be surprising that Studebaker purchased a cheap army surplus one. It has nothing to do with production of WWII trucks, amphibs, or such.
