Those long heaters are great to sit on.
This picture is creepy and beautiful at the same time.

It looks like a shower chair. They still make chairs a lot like this out of outdoor chairs for mental wards and nursing homes.

I used to live in an apartment house in Paris, IL that was built in 1900. There is a faver box, to this day, in the basement. It is certainly creepy. The house was built by a wealthy family and was considered a mansion, very high class at the time. I never realized what it was used for!
I'm always fascinated by ambiguously designed toilet fixtures. At first I thought it might be some sort of bidet.

You'd need wide hallways to handle the most violent patients. Anyone coming into those rooms was probably physically and/or chemically restrained and/or strapped down on a stretcher, and if they weren't it would take 4 or more orderlies to get them in the room.

The "ARE" makes me think this sticker refers to a facility program/policy, a reminder to the nurses of whatever it is the policy addresses. The facility where I work is currently transitioning to computerized charting, and there are posters everywhere saying "information secURITy" (emphasis on U R IT, you are it, you are the one responsible for protecting our clients' health information)...this sticker seems to me like that sort of thing.

Such a shame that they let these old pianos sit and rot. They should have been removed immediately when the building closed. We had a lot of these old pianos (in good shape but some were terribly out of tune! ) in the Music Dept. at my college. They did have 2 beautiful black grand pianos as well!
