In my online research of the Dixmont site, I somehow ran across a site for some artistic photographer who took several models into Reed Hall and the cafeteria building to do some nude modeling. I remember he had one photo of one of those empty firehose boxes in the alcove where some totally naked chick was curled up inside it. She must have been small built because there really isn't much room in one of those things.

Truckie,
Thanks for the link, a lot of interesting photos there, the 1996 video is a must see, especially the shot of the portico when it was still intact.

Just to throw in: Kirkbride was a style of building for asylums. It was named after the creator of it. It is most distinguished as being symetrical along the Y axis (when viewed from above). There was a large front entryway, then a short hallway going back on each side, followed by a long hallway with rooms. It continued in this pattern until the end of the asylum. They are usually ornate in a gothic sense, and (as you can see) beautiful for years and years after being empty. Check this out for more: http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/

Cyrus No, you are not being rude.
Still a small part of the medical building standing. Not to much work done today. I do know they plan on using explosives to blow the ground, but don't know when. I have not been up back this week and do not know if they started on the cafeteria yet.

I agree with you Ashley, the new generation of Americans have no respect or love for history anymore.
Is that Kevin Spacey at the extreme left?
He's in everything.
