The only true building standing now is the clock tower. The building off to the right has/ is being demolished. The only thing they're actually leaving up is the clock tower because it's being preserved. Everything else is being torn down after many of the buildings were declared structurally unsound. Any attempts to go onto or in the buildings are prohibited , and if you go inside, you'll most likely be arrested by police when you come out. Neighbors watch the area closely, so there's really no way to sneak in. The clock tower itself is falling apart, so it would be unwise to venture inside. I attend Worcester Technical High School and the remenants of the asylum are visible from our top floor library. As a resident of Worcester, I'm sad to see the original hospital destroyed. However, it would have cost much more money to renovate the place than to tear it down.
hey dude its sad very sad there is almost nothing left there but they are saving the main building and are going to reuse it hey you should take some photos of the kirkbride in taunton its the last one in mass
I've been thinking about it, and while it seems absurd to have someone committed for masturbating, we don't know the circumstances. Maybe they were caught whacking off to grandma undressing or beating it while watching neighborhood kids playing out the window. I'd find either one disturbing and I'd rather have the latter put away before he started touching those kids. You just never know the details. If you read about people like Theodore Frank and Joseph Kallinger you would understand where abnormal sexual fixations can lead. Then there's Cesar Barone. Who would think someone would be turned on by old ladies? There is something wrong there and if I found my son doing either one I'd want help for him too. I realize that those asylums were never really "help", who knew any better at the time?
enough of the silent hill comments! if i had a nickel for every one of those! patients that experienced the sad but all-too-familiar kind of mistreatment in these places need to be respected and remembered, not compared to a fucking video game.
