Radioactive material, lead, possible asbestos could this be any more hazardous!?
During the making of Marathon Man Laurence Olivier saw Dustin Hoffman just after he made up to look all messed up, & quipped that he should take a taxi next time. Dustin went into a huff because of this & the production lost a few days before he could be pursuaded to come back.
This looks very basic, mainly chicken wire. In WW1 soldiers who lost both legs were often carried home in wicker baskets because it was too easy for them to fall off a stretcher. The term Basket Case comes from these.
My secondary school had a lot of ceiling fittings like this in the Home Enconomics rooms, but were all tied up near to the ceiling & the on/off cords removed.
