Rich, a pentagram isn't always a desecration. A pentagram is also used by Wiccans (and Freemasons) - it is not exclusively Satanic by any means. And the chances are excellent it was some stupid punk kid who was just trying to get a reaction, anyways, rather than someone's calling card.

the light that Wilberforce is referring to is located in New York in a firehouse, i think. apparently, it has been burning for about 106 years. i'ts only gone off once due to a blackout.

I don't know--hydrotherapy in itself, back in the 1800's, wasn't particularly pleasant all the time, either. Nevermind the flower stickers, being plunged into cold water as a cure for...whatever ails your legs...doesn't sound too helpful.

I guess youre right. But If there are windows "Someone" (besides Motts and now us) must know the lights are still on... seems like a major fire hazard. Must look pretty freekin scary at night seeing lights burning in a delapodated building, gives me the creeps!

This fixture may be part of an emergency lighting or safety circuit, in which case it is designed to always stay on. As long as there is power to the building it would be in operation. In responce to the question of longevity notice that it is a flourescent, which, particuallarly the type purchased for a large insttuion where cost is a factor, could be an extened life version.
