I lived near Sunnycroft and worked there from 1977-1983. The owner was Norman Goldberg and then Artie Leib. I have great memories from my time there and will never forget the crazy times and people.
Rich like it was yesterday I can still smell the wood burning and looking down over the bar and Tony sneaking us ginger ale from the tap. Great memories
I remember Browns, The Neville, Grossingers of course, the Concord,
Kutchers, Rocking Horse,, I remember we had our own WSBS aka Sunnycroft Broadcasing System ) radio station) that we used the PA System for.
We broadcast from the TV Room up the stairs in the main house.
The two sided fire place in the main house and the juke box.
Oh well, I remember it well.
right DeMello?
Hello all Sunnycroft people! I was 16 in summer of 63. Parents and I spent week there. I was allowed to take my poodle with me, Please tell me you remember the beautiful mare Captain?? The male riding inst. could have been one of the owners. I remember he was bald like my dad. We had a great time and rode Captain all week. Then, in 1986, im March, I took my family there. This time my daughter, who was 16, my son,8, and Husband. The owner remembered my parents and me. He told me how everyone loved to ride Captain and about a girl who yelled over the loudspeaker that she loved Captain. There was a wrangler there in 86, that was very short, but obviously once on a horse, he felt good. Anyone remember a big palamino that reared up when the pony cart rode up to the group? All those jingle bells scared him, Well, I didn;t fall off, but held my seat like Dale Evans. The wranglers were proud of me!!! I spent most of my summers in the Catskills. It was either a bungalow colony that my grandparents rented for the summer, so my mom and I stayed and my dad came up every Fri. nite and left on Sun. From 1952 through 1964, Many different hotels and bungalows, from Liberty, Monticello, Fallsburg, South Fallsburg and I can't remember the other towns. Any one remember Riverside Hotel near the Neversink reservoir?? How about Whitman's Bungalows?? ( this was 1955,thru 1959) What a great childhood. I lived in the Bronx on Stratford Ave, off Westchester Ave. on the 6 line south of Parkchester. Anyone???
Hey JJ, I'm sure TOM TOM could tell you if he stayed for free, and I'm sure he brought a female guest, or two with him....lol Just kidding TOM TOM, no hard feelings.
Kind of what PlantMonster said, about the Lobby. If I hadn't of seen it, or the photos of the kitchen, I would swear I'd see the Breakfast Club running around...running away from Mr. Vernon!
As Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas approach there was always snow on the ground at Sunnycroft, it just added a magical touch to a fantastic setting.
Oh well gone forever but never forgotten long live Sunnycroft Ranch.........................
