I worked with Speedy during the summers of '77 and '78 and I remember this room very well. Very fond memories. When I was with the band, Linda Collins was the vocalist. I joined the Garfin Gathering after Linda Carter.

i worked at the pines as a teen many years ago. the hotel was one of the lesser of the Sullivan County hotels but not any less grander. the hotel had both summer and winter skating rinks, ski area, golf corse, indoor and outdoor pool night club and many little shops. if you were to step back from the picture shown there were windows that you could view the club show from the lounge. outside to the right was a most grand outdoor pool. even though the hotel is close i do believe that the 9 hole golf course is still open for public use.
i gave my e-mail as my id so anyone could write me. i know many locations and stories of sullivan county / catskill hotels.
I'm heading up to the Catskills in two weeks for some good east coast mountain air. My family has been going to the Catskills for years and years. I find it to be an incredibly magical place.

During one of my last visits my sister Gini and I came up with the term "dead pool" for all the abandon resort pools left behind for the regions heyday.

With the renewed interest in the area I'm very affraid the history of the area, all the old resorts, and abandon vacation properties will be torn down and replaced with exceptionally large, and terribly ugly "vacation" and "second" homes.

My family was part of the "Irish side" of the mountains around Palenville. I always heard about being on the Borscht Belt or the Irish Side.

Thanks for breaking the rules. I think it's critically important to capture and preserve this state of decay in our country. These are our relics and cultural artifacts.
