Do you have an abandoned hotel/motel sight
Nauseous? There arent any abandoned hotel or motels in Connecticut. Even if there were, the cops in CT would arrest you on the spot even if you just walked near the door and order that the town tear down the hotel or motel because of people might loiter there, try to get inside, get hurt and sue someone.
Many of you who worked there may have worked for my dad if you worked as a counselor....Dick Boccadoro? I grew up at the Pines - every summer and winter for 7 years, without fail. Those days make up the best memories of childhood and a million memories for my entire family. Email me if you know mydad!!!!
This shot reminds me of my first glimpse in fifteen years of the main building of the holiday chalet village on the south coast of England where my family always stayed as a child. I revisited it a couple of years back and every ceiling was down, every roadway so choked with brambles and nettles it was impossible to drive along. The playground and pools where I made many summertime friends were barely visible above eight-foot grasses, the timber terrace of the chalet where I have many happy memories was part collapsed and choked with weeds. I can imagine that many of those who stayed here feel as desolate at seeing these images as I did that day. Sad to think that places that mean so much to so many people are vulnerable like any other business to the ebb and flow of the economic cycle :(
Strange to see all the loungers just stacked up where they were left at the end of the final season. I wonder what all the people who once worked and stayed at this place would say if they could see it now. Derelict holiday resorts always have a strange kind of melancholy for me just because you know that so many happy summers were spent here and childhood memories made that are still precious to this day.
Pie if it's true that many acts started at these big resorts, I bet that many now-famous faces once trod these boards. This place sooooo makes me think of a snowbound Dirty Dancing.
Mighty funny place for a light fixture :-D
Thanks for clearing that up!
