Hey Mott, u wanna go nuts go to Willowbrook State School. im sure youll find it. i went there when i was 16. im 21 now and i found it crazy odd that alot of things like bedpans, plastic water pitchers, hospital finance files and ripped up str8 jackets were there UNTIL i came across this website. its seems that when these asylums close down, the take on the true meaning of abandonment. Sadly that trip was before my digital camera days

its an odd looking building from the outside. its age is really evident, and its a strangely shaped building. different layout. other than that it just looks like a big brick building with barred windows.

I rarely post comments but this is my second time through the galleries and I'm taking more time this go around and decided to share. Strangely, this picture doesn't seem nearly as cold as some of the others. The best I can figure is that the way the debris on the floor is laying, my mind has transformed it into a soft carpet of sorts and it makes the whole area seem softer and less harsh. Odd. Also, the oddly-angled room seems much more forgiving than the standard box shape. Strange that what would have been one of the more restrictive and harsh areas of the facilty now appears so much more hospitable. Powerful photograph, Motts.

No, it was a large building built in the Kirkbride era, but was not laid out in such a fashion.

Is this building an example of the Kirkbride Plan?
