Interesting observation, ChaserOne. I love learning about the old canal systems. So you think this is part of an old aquaduct from an old canal? Neat. That would put it in the area of the 1820's to up to the civil war in age, before trains were the chosen form of transport.

I happen to know why that stone arch is there,if you look out the Aqueduct(one of the arches)back from where you came, you'll see a stone bridge(near the Dinosaur BBQ,Ex.Lehigh Valley Station) before the subway was built, there was a stone bridge going over the Canal bed(now the subway and I-490/590). By The Way,I-490 WAS the eastern end of the Subway, that 1 mile section of tunnel is the only remaining portion of the subway that is not filled in or converted. Most of the "Subway" was un-enclosed, and so in todays terms would be a light rail system.

that ascends upon you out the dark tunnel.
I remember when i worked at frontier telephone(local tell company in rochester) some homeless ppl had started a fire down there and destroyed many fiber and copper lines.

Any idea why that wire is running across like that? It looks like the kind of wire I use for electric fences, but I can't see it being very useful at that height...

Trust me on this one. There was a couple pictures I missed here and there. I caught up with them when they started picking up 50 comments in one night. (LOL)
