Those blocks were benches. Shame someone kicked them over.

We always thought it was an incubator of some type. Notice the adjustment knob at the top of the pipe?

Yes, that is a call buzzer... I still have one buried in a box somewhere. I still think about how many people may have used it...

Yuppers... I remember the place well... my friends and I used to go up there in the mid to late 80's and it is AWESOME!!! We were hanging out there when the lights were still on, exploring and what not. The old x-ray machines still glowed when not plugged in, we found prosthetic legs, horse needles (I still have one from way back), wheelchairs, freezers, beds and cots, etc... There are tunnels leading to almost every building on site, even to the old caretakers house. A few years later I was in a punk rock band and we actually got permission to do a photo shoot (on the outside) for an album cover. Afterward, we hooked up with a police officer that worked there just passing by and he told us he had never been in there, so WE gave him a tour! That was years ago, but it was fun to actually explore one last time with someone who had a gun! I live out of state now, and it has been over 20 years ago. I would venture to guess that the place dosent have too much GOOD stuff left in it but maybe old paperwork, but, I will say this... anyone going there should be VERY CAREFUL!!! Not to mention the fines involved for tresspassing, but you could really get hurt in there! If you have any questions you can e-mail me at chanceimru2@aim.com I have TONS of stories!!!

My daughter and I passed the hospital today on the way to a contracting job. We'd never heard of Glen Dale, as we are from Frederick County. We instantly got the creeps passing by the grounds. Now, I can't get away from the computer to find out more. Its too bad they won't allow people to at least walk the grounds. Anyone know of any diaries kept by patients?
I live in Glendale from 10 yrs until I was 23 yrs Old. That was from 1968 til 1981 . Glendale Hospital was one of the most Beautiful place I had seen at that time. The Grounds look like a Golf Course and the buildings where kept in like new condition. It's sad to see the way they let it go. We use to bring friends from out of town to marvel at the place.

I have been to Glenn Dale twice in one week last month. I am sure I will find myself back there at least once more before more curiosity will finally leave me alone. I went first at night but did not explore much because my friends were too scared to leave the ground floor of the adult's building. Perhaps because of all the noises they heard or something I suppose. Only noise I can say I heard is the sound of a metal cart being pushed from one of the higher floors.

Has anyone approached the cops or determined who actually is in charge of the place? Perhaps one could make arrangements to check the place out by asking and getting permission. If not maybe just hit the cops with a stick or something whe they show up... but i digress. Be safe and happy hunting
