What is the thingy below the window? Not a piano, doesn't look like a radiator style I've seen. A built in desk / storage unit? Random appliance? Wandering dishwasher?

I grew up near Glenn Dale & hung out in the Heights & on Sunday's we'd go onto the hospital grounds when it was open, friends would play football back in the back near the adult bldg. My husband also grew up near Glenn Dale & knew of the place too. I suppose our talking about it sparked a curiosity, our daughter went once, took pictures & all was fine. Now last weekend our son who just turned 18 went with a friend & they got caught. They actually were not in the buildings but just on the grounds. He said a helicopter was flying over them, a cop came up with gun drawn, scared the crap out of them. They were respectful to the cops, they were searched & asked questions & was issued a trespassing citation, no court date on it nor fine, but on the back said he would be sent a court date. Looked up online & the penalty is 90 days or $500 fine or both. It's not worth it, our son now will have a charge against him for what, seeing an old building that's falling apart.

My Grandmother would have been a patient here in 1946, she passed away in 1947 due to complications from Tuberculosis she was pregnant at the time with my Mother. Does any know if the hospital buried the patients or was it the families responsibility?
Hi,

Is this place opened for visitors?
We are looking for places like this for a Fashion Photo shoot.

Thank you,

Max is an insensitive idiot. Not only did those children die young, perhaps they suffered greatly. So absolutely NOT funny Max. Get a clue.

Its not connected to the tunnels, iv been more times then i can count and i have pictures of not only ghost but a demon dog smiling into one of are group photos. However the tunnels are usually not flooded and are always walkable so long as you wear crappy shoes but once you enter the adult bulding the basement is flooded a good 6in (thats where you need crappy shoes) but all the times iv been its always been an adventure where i leave with a story for each visit. Just be carful if you ever visit because it is very unstable in some spots and there is a lot of broken glass and debris you dont want to fall on.
