This facility was used by none other than LJB to direct the Vietnam War. We build this system in Mountain View, California at Ford Aerospace, Space & Recovery Systems. We also built and flew the KH satellites that provided the images. The hop was from Vietnam to a ship off shore, then to Hawaii to McClellan AFB and then on to Washington, DC. This system (Compass Link) provided secure voice, data and imagery at about 5 MHz. Very fast for 1968-1975.
It is only the 2nd 360 that I have seen in my short-time on the net. But I think it is amazing. Was it shot at Dusk or Dawn? (CANADA)

At first I thought it was odd that this installation couldn't be re-used for some other non-military communications function, but then I guess in spite of it's hi-tech appearance it's probably as antiquated as an Apollo rocket would be today.

Here in the UK old structures like this from the early years of the communications age are being listed (protected by law) and renovated.
This so reminds me of the dish in Return of the Jedi which Han Solo & Leia destroy with the help of the Wookies!

This is a very cool series. This one looks like some kind of 20th century monumental altar to the sky gods. What would archaelogists in the future think if they found this enigmatic remnant of a lost culture?
