I would actually say newer, because the cage has safety features. Wires closer together, the older styles were finger losing dangerous! With the cage that is on your fan it probably had to meet some safety standards...

This fan is from the 50's or 60's. It is similar accept for the cage to mine. The manufacturing information on mine says Hunter product of Robbins & Meyers. Hunter didn't acquire Robbins & Myers until 1949. If yours has both manufactures names...it would date it the 1949 or newer...
