I think it's better off that Motts left it there. The picture has been taken and spread to touch all of your hearts, if the puppy toy was removed no one else would ever find it and be touched by it as well. A lot of people died in the hospital, it'd be like taking something from a gravesite.
Plus, I'm curious if Motts found this in the children's ward. Lots of people give stuffed animals to patients (especially women) because that's sort of become what you do for someone... stuffed toys and flowers.
I go in pleading for the gas and pethedene straight way usually to be told I'm to far gone! This Mrs Smith wishes they would knock her out and wake her up when it's over.
Thank God I gave birth in Australia! They make sure the mother is comfortable and if they are watched it is done discretely! Curtains are kept across the observation windows until the last moment and then they are only drawn during the actual birth and then the curtains are quickly shut again. There is no green in sight.
I've given birth 5 times and never got to the delivery room because they all came to fast! The only thing that stopped my son from flying off the bed was his cord! Honestly I was to busy to notice who was in the room other than the mid-wife and my husband.
It was probably used to treat the people who had skin infections where they couldn't go into the light. There ARE such people who can't. They probably had plastic up on the windows back then or something (someone might've stolen it if there was) to diffuse the light and stuff.
It truly show the loss of innocence. Once this toy was held and played with by a shy little child then it was lost and forgotten just like so many other things in our daily lives.
Starving children around the world.

I think this one pic is one of the most powerful I have seen so far on this sight. Very moving.
I wander if it was used for "dark colored people"
Very common for stuff like that back then.
Hopefully we will never repeat any of that disgusting thing we call... racism.
