My Dad worked there in the early 70's for a brief time. He also worked at Donner Hanna Coke. I think i might ask him to tell me stories about it. Love the contrast of height and depth in the pic. Btw, first time commenter here. Thanks for visiting the old Lackawanna Plant.

My dad worked here for 25 years or so. One of his jobs was to climb the smoke stack and collect samples of the stuff spewing out.

Great shot! But this would be nothing for me... When it comes to heights, dusting the ceiling fans while standing on a household ladder already gives me the ultimate thrill!

Yup!
Is that a person on the right in the distance?
LOL @ Iceberg...yeah. That was actually my first thought too...growing up with Mario, Luigi, Bowser, The Princess, and the rest of the crew like I had. I've had just about every Mario game (except the newer ones out now) for Nintendo64, Game Cube, DS...lol. :)

I also think of the Alaskan Pipeline for some reason. :)

NICE picture!

I agree with stax v8...you would think that everyone just went home for the day after working a long (and dare I say noisy) 8 hour shift. :)

Very nice cloud shot too!

Wow. I come here to look at some purty pick'tures, and I learn some'n about pho-tog-graphee lol. :D

Ok...it is hard to WRITE in a Southern accent. :D

This does remind me of a prison, and strangely enough, of The Shawshank Redemption...

Love it!

Couldn't help noticing what you mentioned in the opening...
SCRANTON PA...heeheeehee. Told you we were in the forefront of the coal industry! :D

This looks so familiar...yet so alien to me. :D It sure is tall!

Makes me want to be strapped into some sort of insane rocket sled ride circa the movie "Running Man" and get launched for some reason.

Thanks R.E., these look intriguing. Wish they were real (and abandoned)!
Makes me think of that silent movie "Metropolis" for some reason
Still looks great to me!
