Dme's comment, is really dum!
It's the system in this world that must change.
All these asylums in the whole world, are based to help the system, to make you hard enough, without complaining.
And if you have a little difficulty with your feelings, or emotions, you are fucked!
There is no time for you in the system.
The moneymaking, sickmaking, hatefull slavery system.
For some reasons, we are made slaves, to make money.
Look at the movie The Wall, by Pink Floyd.
Where you see all these children are throwen in a meatgrinder, and this big teacher watching and controling it.
A bit like that.
We need to change this devilish system, without to much God given real love.
Thank you my people, and good luck.

Hi,
You should check with the State as all states have regulations for disposition of records when hospitals close.

Does anyone know how I can find information on a former relative, my grandmother? I believe she was there for 34 years. I'm looking for her patient records.

@Motts,
I am loving all of these pictures! Ever since I read Project 17, I wanted to know more about DSH. I search things randomly.
I've actually been wondering if anyone from my family was ever a patient or worker there. Does anyone know how I can find out?
if so, email me here:

Thanks!!!

@Trakker,
Please don't use the term 'retards'. It means 'mentally ill/challenged' and is very disrespectful.
@Allison,
I love that book! I've read it twice! I can't find it anywhere in the new place I live, though! It sucks! :P
Should have left the building alone. Would have made a better museum or place for paranormal investigators to pay to come investigate, like Waverly Hills Sanitorium. Now they are suffering the consequences of messing with history.
Creepy, love it!
Uhh, ghosts are absolutely real. Take it from someone who's been in the field for almost 3 years and been to many different locations, including an abandoned insane asylum down South. Pretty sure this place had them and still does. No matter what's torn down, the spirits will remain. With that being said, wonder how those people living in these "luxury" condos are holding out, lol
I love cupolas too. Something about them is just eerie to me. Wonder if they just threw these away too? Total waste of such beautiful architecture!
