To me, it seems kinda pointless to have a calendar in a mental hospital, unless it was for the benefit of the staff. I mean, I'm sure most of the patients were too "out of it" most of the time, if not all of the time, to know, or even care, what day, month, or year it was, anyway, and in a place like that, I'm sure each day was pretty much the same as the day before.

What Angels?

Seeing this picture reminds me of a section of the book "project 17" by Laurie Faria Stolarz.
It said, " Someone's drawn a row of pissed- off angles, seventeen of them- their backs are numbered- climbing up the wall, hearding for their doom. Their's a picture of a devil at the very top."
It sends chills down my spine...

Yes.. and Great shot, Motts. It's people like you that preserved these places through photos. Such a wast to destroy it, to let vandles and water reek havoc on it in the first place.

They sawed all those angles with hand saws. In those days they kept their handsaws very sharp, and most of the time they had a person on the job that specialized in sharping the saws and setting the teeth, along with keeping all the other tools repaired, such as putting new handles in the hammers and so on.
