I worked on D, Daycenter, and Rec. then D again.
I've always wondered about the kids I met, and miss them still. It was a privilege to meet so many wonderful children, adults today but it still feels like it's today. Daycenter was closed and I went to rec. Street hockey, pool upstairs, rollerskating in town, 16mm movies and plants and gro lights downstairs. Tea time on D, schedules and talking, always talking.
There are rumors that the facility experimented on children. I couldn't find much on that and I'm just wondering if it is true at all? Have any of you been able to go back to visit the place before it is demolished?
I hope you don't mind but I was reading some of the storys and comments you posted on here and I just want you to know that I know what you went through there was horrible and that you all will be in my prayers.
love and understanding dont cost anything though....and they go a long way to helping children open up and heal. Shame that seclusion rooms were used instead.....what good it could have done, I really dont know
This site is so depressing when you think of the subject matter being captured. Thank you for taking these photos as it give us an appreciation of what should never happen to kids.
I was a couselor at Gaebler on two different occasions and I always wondered what became of the kids that were there. There was a little kid by the name of Gerry Young and he was transferred to Amesbury. He was only 11 years old at the time originally from C-town. I always felt bad for these kids that had to endure what thry did and tried to make life a little easier for them. God bless them all and God forgive those who did not genuinle care about those kids. I am thinking of writing a book about Mass. Mental Hospitals the pros if there were any and cons!
Dr. Hanna is still alive and kicking! Unfortunately.... he's my psych. now and he's a complete nazi. take this pill...and this one and this one...youll feel better.
wish he would go back to egypt.
To: GaeblerSchool Girl...Based on the age given on your MySpace page, weren't you too old to be at Gaebler during the time you stated you were there? Just wondering...
To answer was there 2 . I have had alot of trouble with names all my life and the name of the teacher you mention doesnt ring a bell to me..its been a long time and only people that were directly involved with me on ward E or elsewise i actually remember like Shauna was on ward A but i remember her because she was a good friend and i saw her alot. you know what i mean? I am told i have PTSD and that has alot to do with some of my recall of names. and some stuff that i would rather not think about..so i avoid ever thinking of it...Thats the truth
