It looks like it came out of that silent movie "Metropolis"

Cool, love stories like those!
Also used to hide in between these to stay warm in the wintertime. Who would think it would ever get cold up there.. but it does!!
Had a Larry car operator get run by one of these as he was going on spell/break. Fell backwards over a traction rail and the operator that was operating the machine thought he was in the clear and started to travel in the machine. Poor guy got both his legs cutoff & died later..
A Lidman used to cook steaks behind these. Wrapped up in tin foil and tucked back in behind while he was working for his hr. Then while on spell for an hr. he would get it unwrapp it and enjoy his great lunch!

INDUSTRIAL GOURMET COOKING!!
B-Battery is jus like this!!
Yes, massive is THE WORD......................GREAT SHOT!
Am rather happy ´bout the passerby so can understand the size of this, which was hard at times. Get this amazed feeling. "How can you build this?"
Ahh hahaha - an amazing tree-growing-shot; love this! Perfect: can´t stop smiling......................Nature FTW!
WOW - to build this and have it all figured out, it´s awesome. Fine shot i like the green with the rusty red; man-made vs. Nature, very good-looking, indeed. You did well, Mr.M.

Toot - the thing with this area is that it would be way to expensive to deconstruct those metal-monsters and, tragically, coking plants are no longer needed. It now is a park and all the constructs are -more or less- open for visitors. I think this is a good way to cope with such areas, not just closing them and letting them rot away but open them to the public. Zollverein is one of the most popular places at the Ruhr-Area!
