I was also a patient here in the 90s
I was here in the 90s. I'd be interested to see who else was here in the 90s.

Has been preservered, YAY! Is now the Blackburn Inn, a fine hotel. Really magnificent, and hopefully survives the tourist downturn that we've faced this year.

Hmmm...a different rendition of shock therapy. One session and you're cured. Frees up space/rooms in a jiffy and patients don't have to endure a long costly stay. Really more of a "self-help" therapy, but one that could be shared with others. No need for a prescription and dosing is minimal. Now, side effects could be something to consider...buuuuut...once the therapy is complete, no patient seems to show any signs of objection/rejection. Commendable hospital. Good for you, thinking outside the box. Most hospitals spend years trying to help patients...this one lets the patients help themselves. Sometimes self-medicating IS the answer.

Just once, I wish to see walls of an institution painted all the same color...no more ugly split-color decor painting. Who's idea was that to begin with, so much that it seems to simply spread rampantly? And who chooses the height at which the color separates? Why not have the walls be one color and maybe the bottom 2 or upper 2 feet painted the contrast color? I dunno...rantalot...

Eric was very sharing. He shared his blade with all of his nurses...over and over and over again. Eric loved to share. Eric loved all of his nurses. He shared how much he loved them...over and over and over again.

I miss looking at that place. My ex-father in law volunteers at the Frontier Museum and I said to him I've always wanted to walk up close and marvel the site despite being off limits to the public.

I always joked that if I were to ever scored a financial windfall, I would like to repurpose that building into something cool that can give back to the community than leaving it there all derelict. If such a replica of this existed in Vancouver Island; it would've definitely been restored to previous glory and given a second life.

I was a patient here in september of 1993. It saddens me to see the ruins of a place i once knew...
Hi Mr. Motts, I commented on a photo in your album for the Barlow Stae Hospital. I'm in yr8 and have an english assignment that requires me to write a horror story and make a book trailer. I know you don't like your photos to be republished which is understandable as they are your work. My horror story is set at an abandoned physchiatric hospital and I used some of your photographs as inspiration. I was hoping i could use some of your photographs from this album and a few others in my book trailer. I will make sure to give you credit, link your website and direct people to your work. I can even send you a copy of the assignment before i hand it in to prove i have given you full credit. I also understand if you do not want me to use your work. Could you please contact me at nina.walters1@education.nsw.gov.au Thank you
if you look closely you can see there are yinyang symbols and hearts on the back of the door
