I love being in old places like these...extremely peaceful for some reason
Such an uncomfortable showering situation that must have been, lol
and hence this photo brings back my fear of stepping on a nail. Really cool place though!
How pretty!
Oooooh, good and creepy!
That is a little unsettling. Still, great photo
Very interesting photo.

Thanks again all.

fonijoni - unfortunately we had to keep our exploration somewhat restricted to the center of the island. I would've very much liked to check out the Nike missile site, the Ebbets Field bleachers, the SC-B1 grave and other buildings.

Wow I suppose they are shoes - they've been sitting in that window for so long, they look like wooden forms.

BKW - I was wondering the same; I assume the radiators had been scrapped, but there must've originally been a boiler somewhere since there are no fireplaces and the power plant wasn't built until 1912. I'm guessing all the buildings tapped into those dynamo room steam lines after it was constructed.

Mamma, I hadn't heard or felt anything strange on the island.

Like Braille - long time reader, first time to comment. Motts, I am so sorry for your loss. These galleries have inspired me so much over the years and I owe my passion for photography, history and urban exploration to you. I have spent many a day, week, month, refreshing the front page of this website to check for another post, and it makes my working week that much easier when I find one.
I think I can speak for all of us when I say how truly we appreciate all the work Nick and yourself have put into giving us an insight into your talent and adventures.
Looking for the graffiti that says, "Tim Burton wuz here"
