a little bleach, some elbow grease and that room would be as good as new - I just want to say that I stumbled across this site awhile ago and keep coming back hoping for a new gallery - I so envy Mr. Motts. He is doing what I would love to instead of sitting at this desk day after day. But I am going out this weekend searching with two digital camera, a tripod, some lenses. . . . KEEP UP THE NICE WORK!
I worked for NHS housekeeping for a while in the pathology department. Buckets like these were often used for larger body-parts that were to be disected (they used to soak them in preservative. Later they'd imbed the tissue in a waxy resin and slice it for examining under a microscope). There was a similar bucket (of a different colour I think) in one of the offices I cleaned. It had a leg in it that had been forgotten about ten years earlier... Because they weren't sure what to do with it the thing just sat there, under the desk, waiting for somebody brave to come along and go to the trouble of disposing of it (and also of explaining why it was still there). This was in 2004.
I looks like an artificial limb underneath the apron on the right side. Creepy.... Like someone is just waiting for you to get close enough and then.......grabs you!
I ADORED this place... I used to break in with tools and just WONDER at it! I loved the fact that it still had so many signs of function (notices on the wall, medical equipment, etc) and yet was totally derelict and structurally very dangerous in many places: I loved the crunch of broken glass under my feet and the sheer shock and awe of seeing a big space with the ceiling fallen in! I loved the fact that THIS WAS SOMEWHERE I COULD HIDE AND FANTASISE. IT WAS MY GAFF AND I LOVED IT AND I MISS IT AND I HAVE PLACED A CURSE ON THE FLATS THAT ARE RISING OBNOXIOUSLY IN ITS PLCAE! Mr Motts, I'd like to speak to you X
