That's gotta be the most claustrophobic airing court ever... or am I just too fond of open sky? ;)
It's a striking shot nonetheless!
Victorian beauty and the generic flat paint of the modern age. It had a homey look back in the day.
Isn't it sad that countless lives were wasted away in these places for like of Xanax, Prozac and the other wonder drugs we have today.
I love it. It is so hauntingly beautiful.
Pepto-pink!

No, no, Joe, it's red that is the color of madness. Yellow is the color of sunshine and happiness and daffodillies...

No, Tommeh, not picky at all - it's very odd. That door is WAY off center.

Hey, Joy, I think that's actually a REAL plant there on the wall. Check out the ferns growing all over this place in a lot of the photos - especially in the hallways. That is a curious little shelf up there, isn't it? I never noticed it till you pointed it out. It looks kind of utilitarian, and it doesn't match the colors of the walls at all, so it couldn't be decorative... hhhmmmm...

I wonder what happens to stuff like that altar during a renovation. Do they sell it? Reuse it as something else? Trash it? It'd be a shame if they just trashed it. You guys are right - it would be worth the time and effort to restore something like that.
