The hospital closed in 1995.
HA!
Between being in B & W & the angle of the shot making that thing appear to be extra long, I get an image of Frankenstein's Monster being strapped onto it.
The Glenn Strange version from the cheesy 1940's flicks.
"I LIVE IN THE WEAK AND THE WOUNDED"
NO FAIR!
GirlJaye & Rapunzel's Wish stole my thoughts on this one & used 'em before I could. REALLY! LOL
Seriously though, once again BIG kudos to Motts for providing these sorts of stunning shots that speak to some of us in the same exact way , while evolking a different, yet just as relevent reaction from others.
Thus, some of us wanting to grab up a broom & duster to then let the party begin, while others are struck by the poignance of the image ...
Ah GirlJaye, such is the dilemma of urban exploration & it's "take nothing, leave nothing behind" credo.
While I totally understand & for the most part agree with it, it would just kill me to leave something like this behind, only to see it smashed up & disgarded during demolition just a little while later ... UGH!

I wonder how many women gazed upon that very sign with misery and dread, wishing for a better life somewhere else, wishing for a sound mind.
