It *is* 'Way Out'. Honest! If it was 'No Way Out' it'd be 'Dim Ffordd Allan' (I'm a fluent Welsh speaker :)
According to the translator this sign means "no way out"

I've done a bit of research and found the one I think you're talking about. You're so right about the location; it makes the whole thing deeply atmospheric!

And if I'm getting that vibe from a couple of blurry photos online, being there must be quite something.

Doesn't look like it'll survive this winter if it's a harsh one, so I'd better get a wriggle on...!

Many thanks again for the heads up, Lara! :)

Kez, definitely worth a visit. It is only a ruin now, but still quite stunning, especially because of the location. I don't suppose it will last much longer, either.

Oh wow, thanks for that Lara! I had no idea about 'The Lodge'. Being in Wales, it's pretty easy for me to get to.

Would you say it was worth a trek to get some photos...?

hang on a sec...is it even still there?? the most newest headline I've seen for this place said 2009 is when "demolishing will commence" NOOOO what a waste....

can't believe I was there like two days ago and knew nothing about this....still, I visited "the lodge", an abandoned house on the denbigh moors. It was nowhere near as big as this but still eerie and haunting because of the location. it was a asylum (maybe an overflow from this place?) shortly after WW I.
This looks like a 78 rpm record player, look at the small spindle - also the tone arm looks like the Cobra type that Zenith manufactured (and supplied other companies with) which would date this unit from the late 40's on. The Cobra name came from the fact that the tone arm sort of resembled a snake, they would even paint little black dots where the eyes would be. I had several of these and they did sound great for playing 78s.
