It appears almost prison-like. Very depressing :-(

My favorite shot of Taunton! I'm ready to settle in near the windows with a good book, a cool drink and relax. I can imagine how inviting it was here in it's time, looking out across the roadway and garden. Lovely photo! Thank you for the wallpaper!!

This breezeway is the best! This is the third time I've gone thru these photos (I come back to look again when I'm bored at work) and Taunton is one of my favorites. All that curved wood is incredible.
Hopefully some of this was salvaged. Such as waste to have it all destroyed :-(

The autotechnicon seems like a pretty good guess; perhaps it was partially disassembled and placed on top of an old speaker or whatever that base is...

Any ideas on what this may be? I can't seem to find it and would like to learn more about it. Thanks!

I usually do not don these items unless I start crawling around particularly nasty places, such as steam tunnels, sewers or bell towers. 95% of the time, these kinds of places are just dusty.
Do you wear masks and gloves...no telling what you are breathing in!

i think this is vintage autotechnicon - device for processing tissue for histology examination.

It's possible that this room was originally a seclusion room, where a patient would be locked inside for a while to keep themselves from hurting others until they calmed down. Door handles on the inside were usually omitted for security in these kinds of rooms.
The beauty of Taunton State hospital can be seen in every photograph. I am thankful for the adventures that I can take through the photos posted.

I find it interesting that there's a bed with a pillow still on it

I'm guessing that green thing on the wall is or was like a bulletin board or something
