~Me, I am humiliated to see that in fact I WAS the first person to suggest a muzzle for you! In my defense, however, it was after Mr. Motts suggested the short leash. The second incident, though, was Mr. Motts.
Now I hafta publicly apologize. Geez, this is damned humiliating . . . . .
Sigh . . .
OK, ~Me, I am really, really, REALLY sorry I said that Motts brought up the muzzle both times when it was really only once. :-(
" . . . The blotting utterly from out high heaven
The sacred sun -- of all who, weeping, bless thee
Hourly for hope - for life -- ah! above all,
For the resurrection of deep-buried faith
In Truth -- in Virtue -- in Humanity -- "
hi dear, i.v. stands for intravenous which simpply refers to something that enters a vein. the glass bottles would have been filled with saline, nowadays, thankfully, they're made of plastic. a long tube runs the saline solution directly into the vein. there are many reasons why this is done, rehydrating, etc. but it is a great way to administer drugs intravenously, especially if it's something they plan on doing more than once, or something that they need the patient to be on a steady supply for any length of time on.
Are there any sites about this hospital that may have pictures of this when the hospital was open? I would be very interested to see it in it's glory, however I think i will still prefer it as it is in this photo.
This is a fantastic site! I am in awe of your talent, integrity and let's not forget, your bravery, Mr. Mott's. I have only recently found your site thru a link from a blog on MSN. I simply cannot get enough!
Anyway, on to my point, there seems to be quite a few similarities in the pattern of this staircase and the pattern on the wall in the Scratches photo from the Mental Floss gallery. Wherever this staircase leads it seems to have made a rather large impact on one of it's users. The way out, the way home perhaps? Or could it be a darker reason?
Thought provoking! I love it!

Humiliated, Abashed, and Humbled [for now . . . ]
