We had two-way wondows like this in the jewelry store I worked in. I had one in my office and the owner had two in his so that he could see out on the sales floor and keep an eye out for trouble. On the customer side, it looked just like a mirror you could check yourself or the jewelry you put on, little did they know they were being watched!
wish more pictures of archives were available , love seeing this and being a part of it. Things have changed so much, last i heard the archives were all in the jones bld just thrown around i am hoping they will be displayed again. Thanks Mike . Cheri Carrigo.
I remember when we could still smoke in Federal buildings. My boss smoked and I hated going into her office. I drew he a picture of a retractable "smokers dome" that would drop down around her while she smoked. Complete with microphone and speakers.
Did anybody notice the hook things on the outside of the columns? They could just be holders for rain gutters, but I am thinking perhaps they hung planters from them. That would have been really nice.
Are some of those smears from animal paws? I can see a couple little paw prints. The other marks remind me of marks my cats make when they jump and do not quite reach their destination.
Oh. Is that Motts? That is a creepy reflection. The face on the left side and the form in the middle. The feces looks like soap or something more liquid. A runny doo doo? Great shot. When my little one's were first getting potty trained they would "experiment" with poo. One of them even peed in the load area of a toy dump truck. Kids do the strangest things. I suspect a youngster behind this prank.
I would guess that the 5 holes were a way to hear what was being said? But then that would leave the observer no ability to talk themselves due to being heard on the other side... Hmm. It was just a thought.
As a collector of odd antiques, The postcards appear to be from mid to late 40's early 50's. The Gillette company used the same packaging from 1910 until 1958, so my guess is both the postcards and razor package are from the same time period.
