just an realy mind blowing thought, . that seems to just fit this perfect, remember the little people in the horror movie phantasm? realy creepy when ya think about them in a place like that
yep, pretty much, i actually collect and restore the old ceiling fans, and i dont do it for resale. I just like taking something that is 80 or more years old, that is gummed up, not running, and needing repair, and make it look brand new or better than brand new.
For me, it's kind of a service to the people who originally manufactured the fans, who are no longer living, i mean, what is 2 hours out of my time to clean, oil, & polish? and then get to enjoy some sweet breezes from something that is 8 times older than myself? Sure, i might have too many, but look at those people who collect those baseball cards, whoopdeepoo, it's worth $500, but you cant keep cool with it. Sure it's got a pic of a dead guy, but it sits ina box and does nothing.
These things, fixed up, and kept in good condition, will probably run for 500 or more years. (old fans in general) Sure, you might have to re-insulate the windigns a few times in that time period, but, they are a huge chunk of our nation's history, and well frankly,t hey deserve our respect(the peopel who built them and the fans themselves) And if we dont preserve our history, where are we?
Yo, this is crazy i am so scared right now.Of all the times I was at pennhurst I have never seen anything like this. I am seriously in shock. I have a picture that I took standing in the back of the auditorium looking at the stage,it was night time and i sware to you,you can see like 75 orbs but nothing as clear as this. thanks for a good scare motts.
I have to agree - I came in with a burning curiosity regarding abandoned places, but I'm gaining a marvelous insight to the workings of both the human mind and our society. Kudos to Motts, and to those of you who have added so much to these photos with your wonderfully enlightening comments!
I work in a print shop in Bryan TX, running a 25 year-old Heidleburg Offset Press. I'd love to get my hands on it and nurse it back to health 8^) A beautiful old antique like this would make a sweet addition to our collection of ancient presses.
Seems as if they're waiting for someone to come and re-fill them with clothes & belongings long gone. Looks like the tiles are puckering up under the rug, too. The water damage in this place is amazing!
