This is pecular. I wonder why this was welded shut. I wonder what could be in there? Will we ever know?

It looks like someone broke in to have a visit with a ghost that was locked up there...

Do the crime do the time. It is choices that they have made. They should be confined from loved ones, in hopes that they would miss them enough not to want to go back. My heart goes out for those that were wrongly convicted or on trial though. Magnific pic Motts....

Hi Anna, I am a former employee, I was an attendant nurse on ward A-2-3 in 1976 and transfered to maintenance as an electrician in 1977, I was also a employee volunteer firefighter and safety officer as we had our own fire department for the facility. I new the buildings very well and it could be spooky when I worked there especially in the tunnels that connected the buildings and the mourge which was in the basement of "A" building.
if you would like to contact me my e-mail is mike@musicjones.com This is a great site, brings back many memories.

Also, for one tub being higher up, it'd be easier to assist one whom needed assistance in thier bathing experience, to save nurses backs.

All looks very lonely and kinda of spooky. Even in day light. I bet you can hear the wind howling through there. I take it the everything of value has been taken away..

Breathtaking and what an amazing building. The scale is hard to comprehend just looking at the photos.

Could do with some chrome accessories - heated towel rail, mirror and downlighters. Potted palm would finish the look.. lol

Really atmospheric shot, could be either clean and friendly or clinical and sinister

Gives me an uneasy feeling this pic. Looks ghostly, like a dark presence against the bright white. Surely they dont have the lights on do they?

Some of the above comments are hilarious, especially the first one! We havea huge mental assylum that was abandoned in the ealry 90s in NOrth Wales which I thought was huge, but this place is MASSIVE (plus we dont get tornadosin Wales lmao) Fantastic account and photos. Keep up the good work!
