the giant spool kinda gives you a perspective of just how huge this facility really is and the mist adds an air of mystery and intriege

I finally am breaking down and posting. I stayed and worked at THe Pines during 1974-1978. I would love a phone or key(do have 2 forgto to give back) for memories. As for the pool. Many mid night swims. the indoor pool use to open at nights for mid night swms.

The scary thing with electric motors like that is, if you cleaned it off and gave it a bit of juice it would probably start spinning again. They are nearly impossible to kill.

What floor was this on? If it's anything other than ground floor, it makes you wonder how a seed for a fern ended up there!

I'm guessing shower stalls. See the pipe running overhead? There are most likely shower heads in each directly over the place to stand.

Definitely grease. Believe it or not, those elevators get up to a pretty high speed to get the workers up or down quickly. That wheel would have been wound up to a pretty high speed, enough to throw a few drops of grease off here and there.

No cables eh? That must mean that the elevator has been removed or dropped to the bottom.

I've seen pictures of the inside of their new brewery. It's as if the equipment was just modernized. They still have a nifty look to them (the tanks that is...) but they've lost that curvy whimsical look in favor of a much more industrial (but still polished) look. It looks like they are made of stainless steel at this point.
