Ok... The "balconys" in this room were used for fast shipping. An example would be: they put a crate of fenders on one "balcony", the over head crane would then come and lift it off and set it on the ground level. The crate would then be loaded into a train car that ran through the "pitt" in the floor to be moved to other parts of the plant, or the other way around. The plant also had its own rail way system and rail yarl just out behind these buildings, but thats another story.

You know, it just took me 5 minutes to realize the 'slashes' I couldn't find were actually the shadows on the doors I was seeing.

Tile is part way up because that is where the hand, foot, face prints would end up. It was more expensive to install, but easier to clean.

did any1 ever get caught at pennhurst yesterday me and 2 other friends got on the roof of one of the building and slepted there over night i was wokin up by cars driving by is it something i should be concerned about. and i dident see any but is there any guards around there and where do they hang out plz respond people

Seeing pictures of the Iron Lung brings back memories I will never forget. At the age of Five, I was stricken with polio. I was confined to an Iron Lung for months. It was horrifying for a child alone. Only seeing parents on weekends. But I thank God I survived and have been able to live a good life, with the aid of braces and crutches and now wheelchairs. Thank God for healthy children, America.
