I believe this was originally a dining area for patients.

The bottom is one floor below, albeit a tall one. Most Kirkbride buildings had 12 foot height ceilings.

The floors were solid enough in most areas; if you watched the ceiling and looked for water damage (or a hole), you could see where the floor below becomes soft and unstable, and avoid those spots.

I don't recall seeing seats stored anywhere, perhaps they were salvaged.

I haven't heard much news about redevelopment since the Kirkbride burned. The plans are to develop the site into a residential and commercial community, and to save a number of buildings, but I'm not sure which ones in particular.
