I agree with most of the above statements but remember not all staff members were abusive. I would estimate that about 80% of the homeless you see today have/had some sort of psychiatric illness or issue. Sad but true to quote Metallica. I would also quess that the adult cribs were for those who were very chronically ill or perhaps even severly retarded.

looks like there was another world out there - the room seems grey and the trees outside are colorful and, to some extent we can say cheerful, that it makes the atmosphere of the shot almost unreal. and these foggy windows....Motts, you are my master.

The cemetery in the middle of the property is primarily a Jewish cemetery, and still used to this day. It is right up against the road, which is one of the reasons why it has not been vandalized ... unlike, sadly, the rest of the campus.

It is my understanding that the patients' cemetery is located off Exit 80 on I-395.

Yes, the notes mentioned that the resident was hearing voices.

I can't help but be drawn to the word "voices?" in the notebook. Very intriguing.

The photo is just strange on a number of levels and indeed looks more recent than 1972.
