I suppose the heat & humidity rises to the top of these spaces causing the paint to peel at an accelerated rate. Moisture is a building's worse enemy.

That's one heavy duty ironing board. I can picture a middle aged woman with black framed cat eyed glasses wearing a gray hospital uniform dress with a white apron standing here all day pressing sheets & pillow cases.

I'm not surprised about them being there. I've moved a set of those carbon arc projectors before, amazingly heavy.

The power plants were built specifically for the hospital as most institutions were situated in remote areas where they could not connect to a city's steam and power lines. Coal was brought in by locomotive and burned to generate enough power and steam (for heat) to supply these massive hospital campuses.

This power plant at Kings Park is actually the fourth plant built over the lifetime of the hospital.

This place has all these windows to let in lots of light, yet for some (most?) people, it was the darkest place they could ever be in.
