Chicago resident here. I agree twinkle...looks like Gacy.
Let us hope those teenage smokers stay out of this room.
That has to be the strangest brickwork I have ever seen. Some redbrick, some cinder blocks, it's like the building was put together with multicolored legos.
Awesome photo and find! Gosh that thing is huge, however the one at my lab is just about the same size. What a door!! I wonder how that room smelled, our autoclave room stinks horrible!
When I saw this photo, I wondered what else they may have shoved in those 'coal' burners. Thank you Motts for your wonderful photos and comments.

I don't know why but this shot reminds me of some kind of surrealistic carnival's ticket office. Awesome shot!

How did you get into Glenn Dale Hospital to take these pictures, anyway?? It's government property, and the polic regularly bust people for trespassing. I'm especially surprised you managed to get pictures during the daytime without being seen or caught. I went there back in 1989, when I was 19, and the plase is fucking creepy. Me and a bunch of friends went at night and ran around the underground tunnels which are totally scary.. old iron lungs, burnt offering of what appears to be remains of satantic rituals, eerie lights, strange sounds, etc.. And we were caught by the police when we came out of the buildings and arrested for misdemeanor charges. i really like these pictures, however, and I hope one way or another i can get back to that place again before it is completely destroyed and torn down.

Is it just me or do I see an orb (orbs are related with ghosts) next to the hanging light. Just in the center of the picture. Its kinda hard to miss.
