My dad was there for about 9 months in the early 1960's after a required test at a state job he held. My dad always said he did not have TB. He had to stay there until he passed 3 sputum test in a row that said he was clean. While there me and mom would him on the weekends, towards the end on his stay he was allowed to come home on the weekends. While there my dad being an earlier riser and awesome worker would sweep the bathrooms to keep them clean. I recall when he came home he was holding a flower for my mom.
Yup - all the time was wondering if the overseer tenant was eating the pigeons. Food all around.
A lot of the floors are checkered black/white, are they not??? - but these are green/gray.
Is that a lamp lit?
I have to agree with Bobo and Julanne. They definitely look like the correct sized bells to be call bells.
I thought it might be an escape hatch hidden in the laundry room that the patients made over the years. I wonder if any of them got to use it? I hear people got really bored in those asylums after a while. Or, perhaps, the staff built the escape hatch so they could escape the stress of the place! : ) ...Just Kidding!
I have my usual comment regarding scrappers, but I'll keep it short this time: Grrrrrr!!! : (

They painted the paper-towel-dispenser the color of the wall.
How weird, honestly.
