I absolutely love old medical rooms, offices, fixtures, books and would like to find some of this stuff for sale. Like that fantastic cabinet on the left, or any of the contraptions on the right. Maybe I was a doctor in a prior life?
If I had lived there through this, I think I would have just up and left too. That must have been horrible to live through and to basically lose your sense of normality.
Just an update on my comment above - someone DID buy that place. I noticed a new roof on it, which was obviously put there to stop the decay. Can't wait to see what they do to this building, I hope someone makes it into a home.
Like my comment in the first photo, I never understood why we were made to climb these stupid ropes. We were like 10 or 11, already at the most awkward age anyway and this middle aged gym teacher wanted us to climb up these things and if we didn't or couldn't he was right there with that wooden paddle to smack us in the ass! If you smacked a kid with a wooden paddle now, the parents would be sue crazy.
I will agree with what everyone has said here. I discovered this site a few years ago and I've been hooked ever since. I come back daily hoping for new stuff. I think that's part of Mr. Motts plan, he gets you hooked and then begging for more!! I've seen many websites that cover this topic, but none are as well done as this one. Motts writings and site history, the amazing photographs, plus everyones comments and feedback make this more than a website, it's an experience!
Two galleries in one week, I'm in heaven! I see those ropes hanging down, it brings back horrible memories of gym class when we would have to climb those stupid things. I never understood how that was going to help me in life, especially when the entire class is laughing because you can't do it.
GAD! I remember when you could smoke in a hospital, now they have signs outside, you can't smoke within 50 yards of a hospital! Smoking on busses, in grocery stores, restaurants. . all a thing of the past!
