Prior to the popularity of individual battery light systems, they were seldom removed since they were already there and still quite useful. i'm showing my age a little, but around 1993, if you wanted onto the internet and didn't want to pay by-the-hour with the likes of AOL, you had to find an independant provider and the only real browser to use was Netscape Navigator, which was expensive and came on like 27 floppy disks. (ok, i kid, it was only 8 disks)
