I believe simply put that now isolation is when you are contagious, and that in "asylums" the correct term would be seclusion which islike being separated for behavioral safety. I think back when this place was in use, they still used the term isolation to mean being out of the general pop.
someone correct me gentlyif I am wrong, thanks.

in this condition, it looks so stark. seclusion was meant to be a place for them to calm down, to be for their own safety. Not to punish necessarily. Many of these photos really get me thinking...

wow, even tho you described the size of the viewing window in the last shot, seeing it in this door puts it in perspective.

again, I echo what has been said...the shot and the wording are amazing! I get a sense of rue isolation here... not just isolated from the other patients, but inside myself...you are very very good at this!!

You said the place is still open...obviously not this building of it...but what are they going to do here? let it finish rotting? tear it down soon? How long has this part of the hospital been out of use?

photographically, this is a great shot. That being said, I gotta tell you my first impression of it:
A couple years ago I visited Dachau. The doors and the hallway brought that trip back to mind...
...sigh, but of course this pic is much brighter, it only brought a memory for a moment.

If this is an open ward, I wonder what the doors on either side led to...
