The exquisite colors of the red bricks, the slate roofs, the green of the copper fittings, the mist in the background, the cuplos, the rust colored trees, the pebbled roof top. Such a beautiful but heartbreaking shot. All of Motts' shots of Danvers are heartbreaking beautiful, which will constantly remind me of what we lost!
Re Roody's comment on 2-14-06 and the web link to Dianne O'Dell. Can you imagine being imprisoned in an iron lung for 56 years and still have the life force to write her friends and write a children's book!!
bsmarcia -- my mother's parents were from Budapest. My Hungarian grandmother loved to tell me stories of when she was a little girl -- she said they absolutely put garlic on the front door of the home to ward off vampires!! Of course, she probably had too much goulash - but I believed her!!
I purchased "Wisconsin Death Trip" several years ago. No, it wasn't much fun in those days. So many babies (and mothers) died in childbirth or at a very young age. The pictures of the deceased children are the most heartbreaking. But it was "the thing to do" back then having pictures taken of your deceased loved ones!
Well, jolly good for England!! Hip Hip Hooray!! Too bad it doesn't apply to ths side of the pond where they could care less and bulldoze everything. It must be a MAN thing!!
That hose thingy looks like one of those banana slugs you would find in the woods in Northern California. No foolin' they grow to about a foot long. Yuck. I almost stepped on once.
The home in which I reside has a 20' by 40' inground pool but the tile in this pool looks a lot better than this one, except for the top step. It's really pretty -- very retro
Just noticed a comment about the Ahwahnee Hotell in Yosemite. I worked there about 15 years ago when I took a break from the stresses of the legal profession. As far as I am concerned, Yosemite is the most beautiful place on the planet. Lived there for two years and will never forget it. They never had red carpeting there, though.
They had some very good looking male guests. Get my point, Tom Tom
