Reading through the personal accounts of Pennhurst on other websites, and the pictures on this website, I believe Pennhurst will never leave my mind. I hope when I am of an age to leave the UK I might go to see this place. Providing it hasn't been torn down.

I dont need to see inside it, as much as I would love to have a hand in finding out a certain few things about it (I know it has many, many secrets) , just seeing the very outside would be enough I believe.

Such a beautiful shot. It's good to know that such a beautiful place is not going to be destroyed.

I believe at one time, people used to heat large stones and place them under the floors in order to heat the rooms. It is quite possible the holes are where large paddles holding the heated stones would enter the building and placed underneath the floors.

Traction ... I've had the modernized version of it, not quite as painful as the machine there makes it look.

Excellent shot ... looks like those stairs could lead to the pits of Hell.

It's sad ... I wonder how the rest of their lives turned out, not just Chris' and Tyrone's, but all the children that were there. But, what I think is most disturbing of all, is the lack of love, it's like their childhood was just tossed aside, no one cared enough to keep these little mementos.
