One of the more obsolete creations of the time. The iron lung was nothing more than a large air tube. It really did nothing to help the patient. Where did you find someone to pose in that photo, considering it is more than likely that someone died in that tube.

The laughter of the insane danced acrossed that ceiling. Mingled with the weeping of some hundred patients that were misdiognosed by a time in which much was mistaken for insanity.

Such a grand room. It's a wonder that the room survived so well. Just think of the unfourtunate (Insane) souls that spent their time in that room...sends a shiver down your spine.

Although this is a wonderful photo, that is the decontamination room aka sterile field. These types of rooms where used for sugery and expiramental therapies that usually resulted in death.

I enjoy this photo, I think that it would be alot more interesting if you hadn't told us that it was a friend. But, the photo in and of itself is dynamically beautiful.

That is not a room I would like to stay in. In all honesty, I think that pink is an awful colour.

Large airy rooms where thought to benefit the patient by letting them enjoy the air outside rather than the contaminated air on the inside. Though this was proven to be false and many patients died, the practice of this technique survived, and is still being used today.

Very good use of the lighting. The play on light and dark is used to your advantage. But, you have to wonder, who was in that bed last? Did they die or recover? Those things also play into such a dinamic picture.
