Another great perspective shot thanks to Mr. Mott's great eye and talent. The two items that I previously thought were tables are, I think, radiator covers, as are shown here. Probably to prevent people from being burned on the hot metal.

It doesn't look like it would hold much laundry, it looks kind of small for a large hospital. Maybe each ward had one? Seems to be one of the first front loading washers?
