After visiting the bland and barren upper floors we've seen so far, the basements seemed to explode with texture and those vintage hospital colors that are so wonderful. Here, a very old stone wall on the right transitions into a newer brick passage, and finally into a 1950s tile on the left. The floors down here seemed to consist of large slate-like pieces of stone.
