Eyewitness News

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- Authorities are still investigating the cause of a large fire that broke out yesterday at Rocky Point Amusement Park in Warwick.

A blaze struck the abandoned park on Warwick Neck, sending a massive black cloud of smoke and flames into the air.

Its third-largest building-Cliff House-burned to the ground.

Cliff House served as the park's administrative headquarters.

No was injured in the fire.

Rocky Point closed in 1995 after 148 years in operation.

Crews from the state fire marshal's office and local police and fire departments are sifting through the wreckage today to try to find evidence and determine a cause.

Battalion Chief Robert Letourneau says it's not known yet whether vandalism is to blame.
